About the PlusOne® Author
Eugene F Kitney
Eugene F. Kitney is a pastor, author, and ministry leader with a lifelong passion for helping people encounter Jesus through meaningful relationships. At the heart of his work is a simple conviction shaped by years of pastoral ministry, leadership development, and doctoral research: the gospel moves at the speed of trust—and trust is built through presence.
Eugene serves in local church ministry and is the creator of the PlusOne® relational evangelism and discipleship framework, a process designed to help everyday believers live out the Great Commission naturally, faithfully, and sustainably. Rather than relying on high-pressure programs or short-term events, his work calls the church back to Jesus’ relational model—walking with people patiently, intentionally, and one relationship at a time
PlusOne® vision was born out of both frustration and hope. Frustration with well-intended evangelistic efforts that required enormous energy and resources but produced little lasting discipleship. Hope rooted in the life of Christ, who chose presence over performance and invested deeply in a few so that many could be reached. Eugene saw that what the church often needs is not a new message, but a recovering of method—one grounded in Scripture, trust, and faithful obedience.
As part of his Doctor of Ministry work, Eugene developed and implemented the PlusOne® process as a structured, testable, and reproducible journey within a local church context. The result became a fully integrated ecosystem of resources: The PlusOne® Church, The PlusOne® Companion, and The PlusOne® Blueprint, along with the 7-week PlusOne® Experience. Together, these tools equip individuals, small groups, churches, and organizations to cultivate a culture where evangelism and discipleship flow naturally from authentic relationships.
Eugene’s writing and teaching are marked by clarity, pastoral warmth, and practicality. He is known for translating big ideas into everyday practices—helping people move from good intentions to faithful action. Whether speaking to church leaders, training facilitators, or walking alongside individuals in discipleship, his focus remains the same: presence before proclamation, relationship before results, faithfulness before scale.
Beyond his ministry work, Eugene is a husband and father who values community, mentorship, and lifelong learning. His approach to leadership and discipleship reflects a deep belief that transformation happens best when people feel seen, heard, and loved—and when they are invited to walk the journey together.
The PlusOne® movement is not about building a brand or promoting a personality. It is about forming a shared way of life—one that invites believers to slow down, notice the one God has placed in front of them, and trust the Holy Spirit to do what only He can do.
You were never called to reach everyone.
You were called to walk faithfully with someone.
Eugene’s work exists to help the church do just that—one relationship at a time.
